Central Andalusia Tour

This 7 day tour is aimed at the cyclist who wants to discover the varied landscapes of Andalusia taking in HC climbs, coast and mountains views plus historic sites.

The start of the trip is based at the superb 4 star Fuerte Grazalema overlooking the pueblo blanco in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park.  From here there will be daily rides including the incredibly beautiful HC climbs of Puerto de las Palomas and Puerto de Boyar.  The hotel has wonderful areas to relax after a ride with outside pool and hot tub overlooking the mountains. The hotel is geared up for cyclists with bike friendly facilities.

After 3 nights in Grazalema, the tour heads to through Ronda on a route past the awe inspriring Caminito del Ray to Antequera, where we will stay in the 5 star star Hotel Convento Magdalena and enjoy their 6 course gourmet tasting menu,  The following day we head east through this central part of Andalusia to the 4 star B Bou Hotel Viñuela and Spa overlooking the lake. From here we will have daily rides, including a ride up the Puerto de Leon and a ride to the Costa Del Sol for lunch on the beach.

Included in the tour*:

7 nights accommodation (3 in Grazalema, 1 in Antequera and 3 in Viñuela)

Half board (wine and soft drinks with dinner included at first two hotels)

Transfers from/to Malaga airport (for flights arriving before 12:00 on 13/6 and leaving after 12:00 on 20/6

Daily led rides with high ride leader to rider ratio

Itinerary*:

Day 1  - 30km 700m - Transfer from Malaga airport to the  4 star Fuerte Grazalema Hotel.  After setting up the bikes and rider briefing, we'll set out to take on our first climb, the 2nd cat Puerto de Gaidovar

Day 2 - 60km/110km 1,300m/2,500m - An opportunity to take on two HC climbs in one day covering most of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, the Puerto de Las Palomas (3 time La Vuelta climb) and Puerto de Boyar.

Day 3 - 95km/125km 2,000m/3,000m - Our last full day in this area will give us the opportunity to ride for a lunch stop in the historic town of Ronda, but not before we take in the optional climb to Juzcar, home of the smurfs (yes you read that correctly).

Day 4 - 122km 2,200m - Leaving Grazalema, the route heads though Ronda before the smooth tarmac to El Burgo used in Ruta del Sol, then heading past the awe inspiring Caminito del Ray followed by the climb of El Churro before arriving in Hotel Convento Magdalena to the west of Antequera to enjoy a 6 course gourmet dinner.

Day 5 - 85km/110km 1,900m/2,300m - Day 4 starts with the incredible El Torcal de Antequera climb, 15km at 4% to an elevation of over 1,200m with its unusual limestone rock formations this is one of Spain's must do climbs.  The route then takes on a rolling route to our base in Viñuela for the conclusion of our trip.

Day 6 - 115km 2,500m - The first of our circular rides from Viñuela is set to include the 26km Puerto de Leon with an average gradient of 3% to just over 900m.

Day 7 - 70km/110km 2,000m/2,500m - Our last ride will be down one of the fantastic descents to the Costa del Sol for lunch before heading back inland on the Puerto de Leon using a different approach from the previous day.

Day 8 - Transfer back to Malaga Airport airport.

We can also provide bike hire from our fleet of Ridley Fenix SL's for €140 for the duration of the trip (€210 for DI2, €245 for DI2 and disc brakes).
