Alicante to Valencia Gourmet Tour

​This 4 night (3 ride) tour is an abridged version of our original Valencia Gourmet tour with the addition of starting in Alicante, to maximise the experience for those short on time.  We will stay in the 4 star Melia Alicante before two nghts in the superb boutique hotel, La Escondida in Penaguila, before heading into the historic city of Valencia on the final ride with a evening of celebrations in one of Valencia's top 5 star hotels, Hospes Palau de la Mar.  We will have the final meal in the city on one of the city´s top restaurants.

This tour has been designed to show you the best hidden roads and gastronomical delights that the Valencian Community has to offer.  With its warm, dry climate, quiet roads and fabulous food, we have designed a tour that showcases this beautiful region of Spain.

Itinerary:

Day 1  - Arrive at any flight arriving in Alicante on 9th April and we will arrange a short private transfer to the stunning  4 star Melia Alicante hotel where will have a drinks reception overlooking the Mediterranean Sea before the first of many gourmet dinners.

Day 2 - 80km-100km 1,800m-2,000m - The first ride of the trip takes us out of the city of Alicante up the Port de Tudons, the highest climb in the area at 1,025m, a focal point of the 2016 Vuelta España.  The ride finishes at a stunning boutique hotel, La Escondida, near the small mountain village of Penaguila.  Enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools or relax on the terrace overlooking the mountains, before dinner in the hotel's restaurant or on the terrace.

Day 3 - 95km-115km 1,700m-2,300m - Starting deep in the mountains and heading further inland through the Sierra Mariola Natural Park to the spectacular hilltop town of Bocairent for a coffee stop. We'll stop in the village of Agres for lunch before heading back through the area's other historic towns, this ride is a real treat.   The 20km extension takes on a different ascent of the Port de Tudons at the end of the ride.  The evening is to be spent back at the hotel in Penaguila with dinner in their restaurant or on the terrace.

Day 4 - 130km-140km 1,200m - Heading north through the mountains taking in incredible descent to the lake at Beniarres, before the climb which takes us into Valencia province.   We'll then head down through the orange groves to the famous Bomba rice fields of the Albufera Natural Park.  We'll stop here to enjoy a traditional paella lunch before riding into Valencia city centre passing the stunning City of Arts and Sciences before we reach our 5 star hotel, Hospes Palau de la Mar, on a quiet leafy street near the city centre.  Celebrate with a drink on the hotel's terrace before a short stroll into the cities historic centre for more celebrations in one of the city's best restaurants.

Day 5 - Enjoy the complimentary spa and take a walk around Spain's third largest city before heading home.
