El segundo día - 1 Day Supported Ride
Thursday 24th January 2019 9am
We are delighted to promote our 'El segundo día' ride inspired by this year's La Vuelta stage 2. We'll have the Siempre Skoda on the route from which we will be able to provide support including nutrition from our partner OTE.
We will start and finish the ride in Calpe, joining the Vuelta route from Callosa up to the second category climb of Puerto de Confrides. After small diversion off the Vuelta route (to avoid some busier roads) we rejoin it in Gorga then all the way down the Jalón Valley. From here we'll miss out the Calpe loop and instead head straight to the climb of Alto de Puig Llorença (Cumbre del Sol). There will be the option of riding to the summit of the climb, as La Vuelta did in 2015 and 2017, before the ride into Calpe.
€20 contribution per person
Lunch will be planned midway through the ride and is not included in the contribution, so please bring some Euros.
Support from car at strategic points along the route
GPX file of route
Unlimited water from car
OTE Energy gels and bars, plus cakes and bananas from car (fair use policy applies)
Space in car for one small bag (left at your own risk)

The route is 150km with 2,800m of climbing.
Due to the nature of the event we will try to keep the group together, and regroup at the top and bottom of the climb/descents. The average speed is expected to be around 24kmph. However if you ride more than 10% outside of this we cannot guarantee support from car. Therefore we ask that you only sign up if you are confident you can complete the ride at this pace.
