From the small town of Bolulla and heading inland on the CV715, this climb winds its a way through the pine forest up to the hillside town of Tarbena. The lower slopes include sections of 8%, but averages at 5% with a couple of small downhill sections thrown in.
Once passed Tarbena, take the left turn on to the CV752 signposted Castells de Castells.
If you're not in a rush, take a break at the viewpoint accessible from the gravel car park on the right, 2km along this road.
Continuing along the CV752, this rollercoter road undulates before approaching the final ramp of Coll de Bixauca which reaches 14% near the summit.
Please note - If you decide to descend to Castell de Castells take extra care as there are a number of very tight s-bends.
